![]() ![]() ![]() Wal-mart always wants to have the lowest price, no matter what. ![]() ![]() The story above is about lawnmowers (and how Snapper turned down Wal-Mart's business) but it mentions a few other brands that have done the same thing.ĪNY name-brand you buy in Wal-mart (of ANY item) is suspect they do this with EVERYTHING they can. Why would you think this? is there some reason for you to believe that because it's a walmart schwinn that it's not a real schwinn? my bikes direct aluminum bike with carbon fork and seat stays rode great and wasn't expensive.I am not making an anti-capitalist rant at all, but the fact is that Wal-Mart has name-brand companies commission extra-cheap models made just for wal-mart, and not sold anywhere else. It was the best money I ever spent, because it got me into the sport when i didn't have $2000, just to figure out if I would like it.+1 I think my first bike was a tricycle from Sears and I've been riding, pretty much, ever since. It will get you out there, get your butt on the road, and teach you a lot about the sport and caring for a bike. It was the best money I ever spent, because it got me into the sport when i didn't have $2000, just to figure out if I would like it.įor what its worth, it is a solid bike for the price. These bikes aren't the quite the same level as the "gmc denali" they sell.įor what its worth, it is a solid bike for the price. Here's the kicker, I bought that bike in 2004, for $499 from Canadian tire, rode the bejesus out of it for 6 years, and sold it a month and a half ago(7 years later) for $350. I've actually made a couple of posts about its Sora shifters, shifting every bit as smoothly and crisply as my current Ultegra bike, with the Sora just being a TON louder. It was a little heavy at around 24lbs(chromo fork). I bought my first road bike, from Canadian Tire(big box retail store), and it was a Schwinn RD700, and aluminium frame, with Sora components(shifters/derailluers). Here's what I have to say about bikes like these, before the elitists jump in an slam anything from Walmart. ![]()
